Flexible Care
Flexible aged care places are provided through a number of different programs which provide an alternative to more traditional community and residential care. These included Multipurpose Services, the Transition Care Program and the Aged Care Innovation Pool.

Government-subsidised aged care homes
A term previously used to describe an Australian Government-subsidised residential aged care facility. These facilities receive funding from the Australian Government and are bound by the requirements of the Aged Care Act 1997.

Hand hygiene
A general term applying to processes aiming to reduce the number of microorganisms on hands. This includes application of a waterless antimicrobial agent (e.g. alcohol based hand rub) to the surface of the hands and use of soap/solution (plain or antimicrobial) and water (if hands are visibly soiled) followed by patting dry with single-use towels.

Healthcare-associated Infection (HAI)
A term relating to an infection that is acquired during the delivery of health care that was not present or incubating at the time of admission.
Home care service
Also referred to as home and community aged care service. A service or a flexible care service through which care services are provided in a home or community setting
